On 24 October the Myanmar Timber enterprise (MTE) sold teak and hardwood logs as well as sawnwood by open tender. Prices secured are shown below. Logs are measured in hoppus tons while sawnwood is measured in cubic tons.

Brazil says Amazon deforestation rose 28% in a year

Brazil says the rate of deforestation in the Amazon increased by 28% between August 2012 and last July, after years of decline.
The government is working to reverse this “crime”, drugstore Environment Minister Izabella Teixeira said.
